Canadian Open

Congratulations to Dustin Johnson for his victory today and the 19th of his career. Hopefully this will mercifully be the last ever at Glen Abbey. The “Abbey” has provided lots of thrills and great spectator viewing over the years but I have never seen a course that has been more clearly been eclipsed by the modern game. Despite the most obvious course defense technique of ridiculously deep rough that reminded me of an overgrown Muni, the pros made it look like a pitch and putt. Par was silly on #16 and #18……both drive and a wedge par 5’s. Canada doesn’t have to go to the extremes of the USGA to trick up courses for its Open but there are lots of courses in Canada that could make -5 the winning score.  Lets hope Hamilton can provide a great venue next year.
